[ROM][P7510][Android 4.3]Cyanogenmod 10.2

$

0
CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

I'll summarize the standard disclaimer: Attempt at your own risk. I will not be responsible for anything bad that happens. By downloading, you accept any and all outcomes no matter how strange.

CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

Big thank you to forum member epinter for getting early builds to work. The CM has already integrated a patch like his.
DO NOT USE OLDER A1 KERNELS: They don't have SELinux support. The included kernel is really just V1.9 with SELinux turned on. It has all the same features that the A1 kernel normally provides.

Quote:

Support Disclaimer
I am no pershoot or other highly talented developer. It is very unlikely I can make any major bug fix if major bugs are found. For example: I have no hdmi (or HD) TV at my house so if that doesn't work, you're SOL. I test features that I use and that I find important. If there is an issue that deals with hardware I don't have (various bluetooth accessories for example) there is no way I can fix it since I won't be able to get a logcat and I'm not that great at intepreting logcats. Getting CM10.2 working on this tablet was very much a trial and error process involving mostly error.

Quote:

Installation Instructions
-Accept the standard disclaimer and support disclaimer ;)
-(if coming from stock recovery) Look up my A1 kernel thread and download the appropriate TWRP recovery for your model, and look up the dd method of flashing. Hint: the A1 kernel thread is linked in my signature.
-Download gapps and the cm10.2 zip.
-Put on some music.
-Boot into recovery.
-Do a data wipe/factory reset.
-Flash Cm10.2 and then gapps
-Reboot
-Hit the bathroom

Oh yeah, one last thing. In terms of source, I wrote out how I patched the CM10.2 source to make this rom and what those patches do. I thought that would be more informative rather than just throw in a bunch of edited files with their original locations.

[ROM][P75x0/p4wifi/p4][JB4.3]Infamous CARBON Alpha3 (25-Aug-2013)

Earlier, I have been compiling InfamousAOKP as well as Paranoid Android and Carbon ROM for the galaxy tab (P7510/p4wifi & P7500/p4) based on JellyBean 4.3. For more information on Carbon ROM: http://goo.im/devs/carbon

They make a ROM based on AOSP, merging key features of CM, AOKP & PA. This, combined with Linaro used for ROM building, results in an impressive ROM -> high speed & versatility. I decided to port this ROM to our device as well.

It features the Infamous kernel (same kernel as for JB4.2, no SELinux).

ALPHA three:
Only for p4wifi this time

Changelog:
-updated to latest Carbon codebase (25-aug)
-back to stock toolchain (to many issues with sabermod toolchains)
-should solve charger issue (don't have charger with me ATM, so can't test myself)

ALPHA two:
-Not extensively tested
-For p4wifi & p4 (not tested on p4!)

First installation:
-Factory reset
-Wipe system partition
-Install ROM
-Install gapps (you can download any gapps package you like, as long as it is specifically for JB4.3!)
-Boot it up

-Titanium backup may give problem. This can be solved with the info above, set backup location to /storage/emulated/legacy and your problems are solved
-If you have problems with root access, go to developer options, set root access to both adb & apps, and reboot your tablet
-I had system UI force closes after installing an alternative home launcher (Apex), when pressing the home button on the navbar. After recreating the home button (settings>carbon>navigation>add button (home)), this issue was gone
-For me, navbar height setting does not stay during reboot

Earlier, I have been compiling InfamousAOKP, Paranoid Android, Carbon and PAC for the galaxy tab (P7510/p4wifi & P7500/p4) based on JellyBean 4.3. I now decided to move over to OMNI ROM as base: http://omnirom.org/
The nice thing of OMNI in my personal opinion is smoothness: it is relatively low in features, but at the same time it is not that resource hungry as some other ROMs. The end result is a smooth ROM.

It features the Infamous kernel (same kernel as for JB4.2, with SELinux).

First installation:
-Boot into recovery

-Install ROM
-Install Superuser
-Install gapps (you can download any gapps package you like, as long as it is specifically for JB4.3!)

Hi every body.
I have the test build from PAC-MAN rom for our P4 and tested it for long time and I think this built is good enough to share with you.
My build is sync with PAC-MAN on 02/11/13, with Inframous Kernel with my modified some. This rom maybe my last Rom to share with you.
:cowboy:

OK what this ROM has....
1. All PAC-MAN features. (This is not PAC-MAN Official built, because I am not the PAC-MAN member, want to be a member but don't know how to apply, if you are member of PAC-MAN please guide me on this..) . Thanks very much to PAC-MAN for great ROM source.:highfive:
2. All Infamous Kernel (built with gcc 4.6) with my modified code to make " phone call recording, clear voice from kernel ".
3. Voice call recording out of box with 3rd party app like "CallRecorder / com.skvalex.callrecorder"
4. Phone app, turn on speaker by default and no more voice losing when screen off, you can talk all you want to, but with out Bluetooth. I recommend you to flash modem driver from my previous build or from other that can make a phone call.
5. Premount "preload partition with rw so you can use it as you need.
6. Full function Bluetooth on VOIP call, but sometime you have to turn off and on BT again on skype call.;)
7. Working TTS from 'tonyp non-neon app' , and thanks to tonyp for this great mod apps.
8. Preinstall SamsungApp, GAPP4.3-20130813 lastes one.
Grab your ROM here -->https://db.tt/qpKKI2kv UPDATED!

Like my work -- HiT Thanks.

Earlier, I have been compiling InfamousAOKP JB4.2, Paranoid Android 4.2, Carbon 4.2&4.3, PAC 4.3 and Omni for the galaxy tab (P7510/p4wifi & P7500/p4). Omni is quick & stable, but has little features. Carbon/PAC has many features, but also many instabilities. So I returned to the source -> my first p4wifi ROM was Infamous AOKP (JB4.2) so I decided to continue this line and move on to Infamous AOKP based on JB4.3

It features the Infamous kernel (same kernel as for the other ROMs).

First installation:
-Boot into recovery
-Factory reset
-Wipe system partition
-Install ROM
-Install gapps (you can download any gapps package you like, as long as it is specifically for JB4.3!)

Update installation (AOKP4.3 -> AOKP4.3):

[HELP_NEEDED]Kitkat 4.4 for Galaxy Tab

$

Hi Fellow devs,

As you may know, I have been compiling Android 4.0-4.3-based ROMs for Galaxy Tab 10.1. Currently, I am trying to get kitkat 4.4 to work on our devices.

Although I can compile a ROM with only minor difficulties, it already fails when flashing a ROM. It errors with the following message: "set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed". I think this is related to the new way of setting permissions in KK4.4.

If I look in the recovery.log after flashing, I see this:

minzip: Extracted 1197 file(s)
ApplyParsedPerms: removexattr of /system/addon.d/50-hosts.sh to 0 failed: Operation not supported on transport endpoint
script aborted: set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed
set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed
E:Error executing updater binary in zip

I have no idea whether the problem is that the recovery needs an update, or the updater binary is not yet finished, or that the updater script needs to be adjusted.

Anyone also working on this?

After long search and many tries i finally found something that boosts our speaker!!
Stock rom 4.0.4 but i think will work on any rom. I've created a thread because i really want everyone to share thoughts on this.
Don't expect clear sound because it masses with bass and the our speakers are really bad so for better audio use headphones :).

Earlier, I have been compiling several ROMs for the galaxy tab (P7510/p4wifi) based on KitKat 4.4. I now decided to move over to OMNI ROM as base: http://omnirom.org/
The nice thing of OMNI in my personal opinion is smoothness: it is relatively low in features, but at the same time it is not that resource hungry as some other ROMs. The end result is a smooth ROM.

Changelog of 02-Jan-2014
-Omni codebase of 2-Jan
-Updated lockscreen notification - it can now be disabled without ending up with system UI FC (replacement for Active Display - not yet perfect, so do not post bugs - can be tuned in Settings>Security>Lockscreen Notifications)
-Improved Quiet Hours code
-Improved animation control settings

It features the Infamous kernel (same kernel as for JB4.3, without SELinux). The zram code has been optimized (based on google advice for low-RAM devices) and is enabled by default. To change the parameters, head over to /system/etc/init.d/60zram

To see the additions on top of Omni, check github (additional patches are always shown on top):
Frameworks
Settings
OmniGears

What does NOT work?
-Screenshot (not functional, will not be added in future as well, as it causes slow downs of UI)
-There are graphical glitches, especially when switching between portrait and landscape mode.

First installation:
-Boot into recovery
-Factory reset
-Wipe system partition
-Install ROM
-Install SuperSU: http://download.chainfire.eu/371/Sup...erSU-v1.85.zip
-Install gapps (you should use a package specifically for KK4.4 and with the old-fashioned updater-script! - don't worry if you install an outdated gapps packages with the correct updater-script, as long as it is for KK4.4 the apps in the gapps package will be automatically updated)
-Boot it up

Update installation (OMNI -> OMNI):
-Boot into recovery
-Install ROM
-Install SuperSU (in the SuperUser app you can create a script that will automatically backup/restore SuperSU on ROM updates so you don't have to reflash SuperSU).
-Boot it up

[ROM][P75x0/p4&p4wifi][KK4.4]Nameless ROM (23-Mar-2014) BETA

$

Earlier, I have been compiling several ROMs for the galaxy tab (P7510/p4wifi) based on KitKat 4.4. After my experience with Omni was not that bad, I decided to move over to Nameless ROM, where I have become a core member of the team: http://nameless-rom.org/.

Changelog of 23-Mar-2014
-Many upstream updates from nameless & CM
-Updates to CustomLauncher (I have had no more FC's)

It features the Mackay kernel (it is a kernel named ICS_2014, because I worked on this kernel for stock ICS and CM9 as well). The zram code has been optimized (based on google advice for low-RAM devices) and is enabled by default. I also improved the OC code and changed voltages.

First installation:
-Boot into recovery
-Factory reset
-Wipe system partition
-Install ROM
-Reboot system (there sometimes are bootloops if gapps is flashed directly on top of the ROM without first booting the ROM)
-Reboot recovery
-Install gapps (you should use a package specifically for KK4.4 and with the old-fashioned updater-script! - don't worry if you install an outdated gapps packages with the correct updater-script, as long as it is for KK4.4 the apps in the gapps package will be automatically updated -> only small gapps packages fit, e.g. banks core of pa 0-day gapps mini)
-Reboot system

-> some people report issues (e.g. bootloop or crashing gapps) if they flash ROM & gapps in a row after fully wiping the tablet. In that case, wipe again, flash ROM, boot the tab, reboot to recovery, and then gapps.
-> if coming from stock ROM, a factory reset may wipe you entire /data partition, so you loose you sdcard contents as well (I think this only happens with CWM, but I'm not sure)
-> in CWM "wipe system partition" can be found under mounts, and is called "format /system"
->If you get the message 'This package is for "p4" devices this is a "GT-P7500"' (or something likewise) update to a recent CWM or TWRP

Update installation (Nameless -> Nameless):
-Boot into recovery
-Install ROM
-Reboot system

You can download any gapps packages for kitkat that you like, but one that many have used successfullyis PA 0 day gapps:

Need a usable ROM

Hi Guys,

I know my question is probably provocative. But I tried out a few roms:

* Infamous
* CM 10.1 SGHT
* Nameless 4.4

But all of them are not able to play a YouTube video without freezes. Some of them developed extreme lag after using them a while or have strange issues like Nameless - which is actually not surprising at its beta.

Maybe someone can recommend a ROM, it should be Jelly Bean at least. Can live without KitKat. All I am looking for to have something a tad more up to date than the stock one and smooth.

Cheers
Holger

Tab 10.1 wifi problems

Hi there,

Since last year i have bought a samsung tab2 10.1 wifi only, i think the device is very slow. Especially on the touchscreen, it is not reacting very well. So i want to try a custom rom like CM 10.1

What steps must i do now, i want to backup my personal settings. Like email and facebook profiles, this can be done with KIES i've read?
I also bought a 32gb class10 SD card.

Is there a good manual or video instruction that i can use or follow?

[ROM][KK 4.4]Nameless ROM GT-P7500/7501/7510/7511 (unofficial build - 13-Apr-2014)

$

I was compiling several ROMs for Samsung Galaxy devices. With KitKat coming up I was able to maintain my ROMs for the S4, but was not successful with a ROM for my Galaxy Tab 10.1 (GT-P7500).

Thanks to the incredible support of kasper_h I was able to take over his work and create this KitKat ROM for the tablet! Unfortunately he discontinued the work on this ROM because he will move on to a more advanced tablet. I wish him great success with his new tablet and want to thank for his work for the 10.1 tablet!
With kasper_h agreement I take over and will maintain future updates of this ROM.

Reminder:
At this time this is an unofficial build of the Nameless ROM! Several parts of the Nameless sources have been patched by kasper_h to get Nameless working on our beloved old 10.1 tablet. Some functions of the ROM are not 100% the same as you would see it on a Nameless ROM for other devices!

Changelog of 13-Apr-2014
- Updated source codes to latest releases from NamelessROM & CM
- Recompiled and published
- Small simple boot animation (as the original Nameless boot animation seems to make problems)

Older changelog in post#4

This ROM features the Mackay kernel (it is a kernel named ICS_2014, because kasper_h worked on this kernel for stock ICS and CM9 as well). The zram code has been optimized (based on google advice for low-RAM devices) and is enabled by default. kasper_h also improved the OC code and changed voltages.

First installation:
  • Boot into recovery
  • Factory reset
  • Wipe system partition
  • Install ROM
  • Install gapps (you should use a package specifically for KK4.4! - don't worry if you install an outdated gapps packages, as long as it is for KK4.4 the apps in the gapps package will be automatically updated.
  • Wipe dalvik-cache and cache
  • Reboot system

-> some people report issues (e.g. bootloop or crashing gapps) if they flash ROM & gapps in a row after fully wiping the tablet. In that case, wipe again, flash ROM, boot the tab, reboot to recovery, and then gapps.
  • Boot into recovery
  • Factory reset
  • System wipe (to get rid of old GApps installations!)
  • Wipe system partition
  • Install ROM
  • Wipe dalvik-cache and cache
  • Reboot system
  • Reboot recovery
  • Install gapps
  • Reboot system

==> Sometimes you get problems with GApps, even you did factory reset and flash a new GApps version. The reason is that Nameless build in the updater-script a routine that calls any batch saved in system/addon.d. Most GApps installations place there a batch called 70-gapps.sh. This batch file saves all GApps apks and libs before the flashing wipes system and restores them just before the flashing is finished. And factory reset does not wipe system!

Update installation (Nameless -> Nameless):
  • Boot into recovery
  • Install ROM
  • Reboot system

You can download any gapps packages for kitkat that you like, but one that I use and tested is the minimal GApps from BaNkS.

Have you been running a custom rom and seem to be missing the old live wallpapers? If yes then I have the solution to your problems! I have extracted the unmodified APKs from the stock rom and uploaded them to my Drive. It should work on any Android version equal or above ICS.

Download: https://mega.co.nz/#F!A80niYiR!B6RGN_RymOD-_QPn6VZe4Q

Installation Instructions:
1) Click the link above
2) Download the selected file/s
3) Install as a system app or user app
4) Select live wallpaper
5) Hit the hay

I will also be taking requests for different custom roms. I will upload tomorrow wallpapers from Android 4.0.4 from our device. Though all may not be included, you can ensure that the files are safe and not malware.

EDIT: Wrong forum. Mods, can you please move the topic to Galaxy Tab 10.1 Themes and Apps

*Full wipe recommended if coming from another kitkat rom*
MAKE SURE TO HAVE A BROWSER APK. THERE IS NO MORE STOCK BROWSER. For firefox see below.

My personal build "Diamond Rom 4.4" is based on omnirom with the following additions:
  • CM Calculator (the newly redone one they're proud of)
  • CM File Manager
  • CM Wallpapers
  • Bash shell
  • Nano text editor
  • Powertop
  • Koush's full featured open source superuser (and it's INTEGRATED into settings :cyclops: )
  • Carbon rom blue balls wallpaper

I've added a few of my personal touches which include
  • Batter circle color changing: green 100%-51% yellow 50%-16% red 15%-0% This was my favorite I9000M framework-res mod that I've missed since switching to CM7.2 way back.
  • Killed lock screen music full screen (personal privacy thing when riding public transportation)
  • Disable android external storage management: messes with ext4 formatted hard drives or multi partitioned hard drives. Use the unix style mount command
  • Disable hardware keyboard on boot: disabled but not removed. You'll have to manually turn it on
  • Removed camera sounds
  • Disable SELinux at the kernel level. It's even disabled on my laptop because I don't need that level of paranoid protection and it seems like it's more trouble than it's worth.
  • Put the dalvik cache in the cache partition. Don't waste the data partition for it. :cyclops:

Every thing I've tested: camera, youtube hd, sound, gps, usb otg(use manual mount command) etc work.

*Instructions*
First time flashing omni:
-Flash TWRP
-Make recovery backup and/or run Titanium Backup (optional)
-Full wipe
-Format system partition
-Install ROM
-Install gapps
-Reboot :cyclops:

Subsequent flashes:
-Install ROM

What ROM for the p4

Hello everyone,

I've been striving looking for a rom that works fine on the P4 but no luck so far.
I want to get rid once for all of the TouchWiz stockrom which is slow as hell and makes me want to throw the tablet against the wall. I've been flashing CM and few others but they are all quite buggy and made me want to go back to TouchWiz and hence increase my frustration.
Which is in your experience the best alternative to TouchWiz? I need something stable, fast, and that works!

Thanks
Davide

I named this version as ‘Reborn’ because I started to saber SlimBean 4.3.1 again from scratch and it has some KitKat bug and memory leak fixes.
The rom, kernel and recovery are tested by me first before I make it available online. I could have overseen something during testing, please be understand.

Nvflash-Startup...And then?

Any help will be appreciated.

Had a Galaxy 10.1 that was dead. Read every possible tutorial I could get my hands on.

THEN THIS WORKED:

Downloaded Nvlfash
Connected my device
Ran the following commands:
nvflash --bl bootloader.bin --go
nvflash --resume --download 8 recovery-cwm_4.0.0.4-sam-tab-10.1.img

And magic, the device made the familiar Samsung jingle and started up. <---I THOUGHT PROBLEMS SOLVED, I'm a genius.

The device works perfect, but the moment I power it off, it's dead, wont power back on. Have to repeat the above process and that starts the device up again. Can't get into down/recovery mode etc...the above process is the only way I can get the device powered on.

Any advice for a newbie, what should I do after starting up with Nvflash to get the device to power off and on like normal again?
