[Q] What's the best current ROM/Configuration for our tab?

$

Hi there, our tablet is becoming old. Currently I had installed the Nameless ROM and I love it, but the tablet is still a little laggy and more than a little when you open a few apps... Do you think that the ROMs based on Honeycomb could run smoother in our devices?
I tried to set up an 1GB swap partition but really don't feel any difference...
So, I think it could be a good idea to post if you wise guys know any tweaks or configurations to make our tablets more efficient devices
Thanks in advance

Introduction
Quote:

This a build of Android 5.0.0 Lollipop from the AOSP sources.
The kernel is based on twa_priv's source tree. Included are a couple of fixes mentioned in the change log below.

Installation instructions
Quote:

* Reboot into TWRP
* Full wipe in TWRP
* Wipe System
* Install the ROM
* Reboot System

The first boot will take longer than Android 4.4.4 and older ROMs. Android Runtime (ART) is slower than Dalvik at optimizing applications the first time.

Summarized Standard Disclaimer: use at your own risk. I use it at mine
*Full wipe recommended if coming from another rom due do the settings database varying and no way to make them compatible*

My personal Omni Rom 5.0 is based on omnirom with the following additions:
  • CM12 File Manager
  • CM11 ssh terminal commands
  • Bash shell
  • Nano text editor
  • Koush's full featured open source superuser integrated into settings***(see potential quirk)

The list of personal touches isn't very long right now but they include
  • Battery percent displayed next to battery icon
  • Battery icon changes color based on percent: 0-15 red, 16-50 yellow, 51-100 green
  • Disabled lock screen full screen music.
  • Disabled SELinux at the kernel
  • Up to 1.6GHz CPU OC
  • Automatic 400MHz GPU OC

Not Working/Quirky
  • Bluetooth audio
  • Mic can be quirky.
  • Stock camera (not included) would crash on camera change, photo/video change. Try this open source alternative instead. Full featured, nice and fast.
  • Wifi ABSOLOUTELY MUST BE TURNED ON, on boot
  • AOSP keyboard swipe doesn't work.
  • Cellular data probably doesn't work. phone call audio doesn't work. The rest is reported ok.
  • Flashing SuperSU might cause issues since the su daemon is started by the ram disk script since boot scripts apparently don't work.
  • Plugging in a charger when turned off causes the tablet to turn on with the touch screen disabled.
Everything else not listed as a quirk probably works.

*First Time*
-Read second post FAQ and other important information
-Make titanium backup (highly recommended)
-Flash TWRP 2.8.1.0
-Reboot into new recovery
-Make recovery backup (meh, I don't usually do it but you have been warned)
-Full wipe
-Format system
-Install rom
-install gapps (you can use another one if you want. I always provide the most minimum gapps)
-reboot
-TURN ON WIFI IMMEDIATELY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

*Subsequent flashes*
-TURN ON WIFI BEFORE REBOOT RECOVERY
-Install ROM
-Install gapps
-Reboot into rom
-Reapply any adblocking hosts file.

Frequently Asked Questions and Other notes:

Can I upgrade / dirty-flash from Lollipop to Marshmallow?
- You cannot. It must be a clean install.

Can I dirty flash over a previous Marshmallow build?
- Yes.

I thought you said Marshmallow wouldn't work.
- The problem with ART is not solved. The Optimizing compiler backend is producing binaries that crash on the Tegra 2. The Optimizing backend is the new default dex2oat compiler in Marshmallow. The Quick compiler is default backend in Lollipop. It is still in the Marshmallow source so this ROM is using the Quick compiler backend.

SELinux enforcing mode
- The default SELinux mode is permissive mode. The Set_SELinux_enforcing.zip will not work with Marshmallow. That script was setting a system property to toggle SELinux early on in boot. Google has removed the use of this system prop so that method won't work anymore.
- For now you can find some app on F-Droid to set the SELinux mode after boot. It's not ideal but it will do until some better solution arises.

Doze
- This device does not meet the hardware requirement to support Doze.

Themes
- Marshmallow supports RRO (Layers) themes. I will not add CM-12 themes, CM-13 themes, or any other theme engine.

HD video playback issues. Camera issues.
- The video and camera stack are proprietary NVidia software. This means there is no chance of fixing bugs within.
